Maple Bourbon Cocktail with Rosemary
I use to not like bourbon. I was a fool. Maybe it was too many bad experiences in my college days, or possibly I just didn't know what to drink or how to drink it. So let me introduce you to one of my most favorite drinks. My theory is, when you combine your drink with some of your favorite ingredients, it cannot be bad. Well, unless that involves fish or something. You get what I am saying, hopefully.
Maple syrup, lemon juice, rosemary and good bourbon. Shaken and served over ice. It is simple and absolutely perfect. Make sure to give the rosemary a good smack between your palms to release the oils, or you will really be missing out.
We have also tried this cocktail with thyme, it is equally amazing.
MAPLE BOURBON WITH ROSEMARY
makes 1
1 sprig rosemary
1-2 shots bourbon (I prefer 2)
1/2 lemon, juiced
1 tablespoon maple syrup
Smack rosemary between your palms and add to cocktail shaker that is filled with ice. Add bourbon, lemon juice and maple syrup. SHAKE FOR 60 SECONDS. Strain over ice filled cocktail glass and garnish with rosemary spring and thin slice of lemon.
